Web cookies are text files that are sent by your server to a web page and then sent back each time you visit the site specific. The term comes from an idea well known in the Unix computing called the " Magic Cookie. " They are used to track and navigate behavior.
A good example is the Amazon. If you place the items in your shopping cart and turn the machine off without pay, cookies allow your items to remain on the cart until you return to the shop again.
Some myths that surround cookies they generate pop-ups, they are used for spam, who are used only for advertising, they are like worms and viruses because erase data from hard disk, and they are as spy ware that can get personal information on the computer.
They are always in the form of data , not a programme code. They allow you to view the pages viewed by a user. They are stored on your hard disk as name-value pairs.
You can set your browser settings to accept or not accept " " cookies on your computer. There are usually two lists involved. The white list contains sites acceptable. The blacklist is tht sites are not accepted by the user. You also can reject cookies from certain sites, not allow cookies to a third site, accept only cookies that expire when the browser closes, and you can view and delete cookies individual who should not be there. Some browsers have a cookie manager so that the user can delete cookies stored in the browser itself. You can also choose an option in your browser so it will let you know each time a website send name-value pairs for you. You can then accept or deny the pairs.
Erasing cookies is as simple as delete all the temporary Internet files on your computer. You then lose all their cookie files. So when you go back to a place very visited, the site will act as if it has never seen before and give it a new cookie to you again.
People or relatives who share a computer also its share of problems of cookies. If I go to Amazon and buy a book, my son can connect the right and behind me use my account for the purchase of another book. If you are using a public computer, such as at a library, anyone can come behind you and buy things with your credit card. Always be sure to check and see if stores have a warning about this posted on its site.
Or say you have 2 different computers you use. One at work and one at home. You will have to set up two controls for each. What you use on your home computer, you can not use in the workplace and vice versa. It can be very cumbersome to reset cookies everything became a problem.
Cookies may be useful for some and a pain to others. They know how to use them to your advantage.
